MCC Internships, Sabbaticals and Other Short-Term Assignments

Internships - International

Students from Canada and the United States intern internationally for academic credit in a field related to their study.

Throughout each year MCC provides 7-8 internship opportunities for Anabaptist students or students who attend Brethren in Christ or Mennonite Colleges to meet the following goals:

  • Strengthen the relationship between MCC and Anabaptist educational institutions
  • Support partners with useful human resources
  • Provide meaningful learning opportunities for students
  • Serve as an entrée/”foot in the door” into working with MCC
  • Increase young adult participation in MCC


It is the expectation of the intern to cover costs of transportation to and from assignment and visa and medical costs.

Internships / Summer Service (Salaried) - Canada

Opportunities vary from working with inner-city immersion programs to environmental or other social issues in Canada.

Opportunities vary from working with inner-city immersion programs to environmental or other social issues in Canada. Paid internship assignments typically begin in April or May (depending on approval of funding for some assignments). For assignments where the funding comes from Service Canada, the intern must be a student.

Summer internship opportunities from May to August vary. Recent volunteers have worked with inner-city immersion programs in Montreal and with MCC Canada's advocacy efforts in the MCC Ottawa Office. Participants may be asked to contribute to costs.

Short-term Assignments

Specific short term assignments give MCC the ability to achieve program goals which longer term personnel do not have the time or expertise to carry out.

  • Provide meaningful learning opportunities 
  • Serve as an entrée/"foot in the door” into working with MCC
  • Increase participation in MCC
